As in my paintings, my photographic practice focuses on the everyday and the familiar. I like to depict people I encounter in my travel throughout the Greek peninsula engaged in activities which may seem remarkable to somebody from outside the milaeu to which they belong, yet which relate very particularly to the Greek culture and customs. Local scenes are captured in a single moment in time, relating to the very personal stories of the people and objects involved and engaged with a wider social discourse around the contemporary situation of the Greek people and heritage. In this way I aim to imply a deeper sympathy to the photographic subject.
