Paintings

In these paintings I hope to convey a sense of times past, and the objects that are associated with specific memories from my childhood.  These objects may seem like ordinary everyday appliances, however the sense of isolation achieved through the use of scale and composition could also indicate the nostalgic relevance they still hold.  Such a feeling of times past is generally signified by the use of objects associated with childhood, which may also remind the viewer of the illustrations in childrens book with their bold simple shapes and colours.

The paintings also create a homely atmosphere, through their depiction of domestic objects that conjure up feelings of security and familiarity (such as cleaning implements, learning tools, furniture and knitting yarns), objects which our parents or grandparents may have easily been engaged with in our earliest memories.
